We are at it again – MORE CANNING. I have a new group of amazing Middle School students who just finished making and canning applesauce. The students went through the ENTIRE process. Prior to making it, we sampled what I had just made a few weeks ago and gathered opinions and feedback in regards to homemade applesauce. I was also trying to excite them about the entire canning project ahead – which it was EASY to excite them about this project. We learned the process of making it on the stove top, blending with a blender, and practiced using a variety of kitchen utensils along the way. Unfortunately, we do not have any plain applesauce since cinnamon applesauce was unanimously the flavor of choice. The students had to prep the jars to submerge them in the water bathing canning technique and confirm proper sealing post cooling. We are pleased to say it is all natural with the ingredients being exclusively Jonagold apples and cinnamon (no sugar….).
Please consider bidding on a pint size jar of applesauce to help the Middle School students cover the cost for this project as well as fund future projects and supplies for our class. Much thanks and we hope you have the opportunity to enjoy a jar of applesauce.
Starting bids $4. We have 5 jars. The highest bidder will be given a gallon of fresh, homemade cider made exclusively by these students.
