We started the semester off to strong start with a bunch of cutting, chopping and tears in our eyes (Why Lord must an onion make you cry???). We made SALSA. YUMMY! Our class had the opportunity to clean off, cut up and throw in the food chopper all the necessary ingredients to make salsa. It was a fun and easy task. We made soooo much salsa – we shared with our student body. Please enjoy the recipe and the reviews below! If you give the recipe a try please let us know and leave a review!
Recipe:
- 15-18 roma tomatoes (w/ seeds, chopped)
- 1 medium onion (chopped)
- Dash of cumin
- 2 bunches cilantro (chopped)
- 2 serrano peppers 9 (seeded)
- 2-3 Jalapeno peppers (keep the seeds to add heat)
- Herdez salsa verde (7oz. can)
- Herdez salsa Casera (7oz. can)
Combined all ingredients if chopped to your liking, otherwise put in a Food Chopper to make ingredients smaller. Chill and serve.

The salsa that I tried wasn’t the best salsa I have had.the tomato was a little strong and there wasn’t much heat. Though the onion and chives were well balanced. The only thing I would change is it needs pineapple, other than that I give it 3.5 stars!
I believe that the salsa was prepared nicely and tasted good. However, it was kind of bland and needed more spice, weather it be peppers or just seasonings.

The salsa the class and I made was very tasty and tasted even better when cold. The spicing was moderate which was good for me as I don’t enjoy as much jalapenos, however it also could be just as easy to add more for those who like the heat making it enjoyable for everyone’s liking. One thing I suggest is to smash up the cilantro a little more so there isn’t big chunks of it making it more distributed. I would give the salsa ⅘ stars and would definitely eat this salsa over store bought salsa.

I’m not really a salsa person, so I wasn’t a big fan of it. I liked making it, eating the chips, and I kind of liked the juice, but I’m more of a guacamole person. I’m not going to give it any stars, because I think that would be unfair.

I really did like the salsa. I liked how it wasn’t as liquidy than some of the other store bought salsa. I will admit I like a little kick to it. Other than that it was definitely one of my favorite salsas.
