CHRISTIAN SCHOOL IN SALEM

Spiritual Life

At Western Christian School, our mission is centered on providing a Christ-Centered educational experience.

Our aim is to partner with parents and churches to cultivate the spiritual growth of our students so that they have a strong biblical foundation that will prepare them for the future. We provide a safe and enjoyable environment for students to continue to grow their relationship with God.

Our student body represents multiple denominations from over 60 Christian churches around Salem, Dallas, and McMinnville.

We see our denominational diversity as a strength and choose to focus on what unites us. If you would like to learn about our core tenets and beliefs you can read more in our Statement of Faith.

Western’s Spiritual Life Department offers a variety of programs and opportunities for students to deepen their faith, including Bible classes, chapel services, retreats, service projects, and small groups. Our team is dedicated to developing whole-hearted servant leaders by helping students understand the Bible, develop a personal relationship with Jesus, and grow in their faith.

Bible Classes

Our fun and engaging Bible classes offer students the opportunity to study the Word of God in-depth and learn about the history, culture, and teachings of the Christian faith. Our classes are tailored to help students gain a comprehensive understanding of the Bible and its underlying principles, while emphasizing real life application in their day-to-day lives.

Chapel Services

Every week students participate in chapels geared for their age group (High School, Middle School, and Elementary). Chapel experiences are carefully curated and include guest speakers from local churches, colleges, and nonprofits as well as students sharing biblical messages with their peers. Our students lead in every aspect of the service, from worship teams and sharing testimonies to the tech booth and prayer.

Small Groups

Our weekly small groups provide students with a close-knit group of peers to grow in their faith, discuss biblical principles, and build Godly relationships with other students and leaders. Our groups are formed at the beginning of the year and remain the same for the entire year. This aids in providing connection among our entire student body.

High School Retreat

At the beginning of the year, our High School students attend High School Retreat. This retreat provides students with an opportunity to step away from the distractions of daily life, build close-knit friendships, and focus on their relationship with God.

Mini Term

Each class takes a week to focus on a service or mission project. This is known as Mini Term. This allows our students to have tangible experiences of serving others and making a positive impact in the world. These experiences provide students with an opportunity to put their faith into action and make a difference in the lives of others.

Spiritual Renewal Week

Twice a year, WCS hosts Spiritual Renewal Week. This week has a heavy emphasis on prayer, worship, fellowship, and spiritual development. We have witnessed God move in big ways repeatedly during this week and look forward to it.

We believe spiritual growth is a lifelong journey.

Enhancing biblical knowledge,  deeper devotion through worship, support through prayer, and collective and personal expression in service to others.

Our goal is to provide students with the tools and resources they need to continue growing in their faith long after they move forward in life. If you’re interested in learning more about our Spiritual Life Department or would like to visit us, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’d love to hear from you!
