- As a Christian school, we focus on Spiritual and Character growth, skill development in reading and mathematics, and critical intellectual knowledge in history, geography, language arts, music, science, and Bible. WCS Elementary Curriculum Overview
- Along with our challenging academic content, will also provide “special” subject classes to help our students grow and develop physically and creatively.
- Student Management and Character Development will focus on our “Pioneer Values” – Responsible, Respectful, Honest, Safe, and Kind. We will use these core principles to set classroom and school rules, as well as for focused engagement with students about their choices, and which choices work best when engaging other people like peers and adults.
- Spiritual Development focuses on Biblical knowledge, devotion through worship/chapel, support through prayer, and collective and personal expression in service to others. Our school understands that a child’s spiritual development is the parent’s responsibility and that our role is to support you in that process. We, therefore, will avoid taking positions on doctrinal issues that divide us into denominations and focus instead on God’s Word. What we will teach, doctrinally as Truth, is found in our Statement of Faith. Western welcomes students from all backgrounds and therefore students and families are not required to profess Christianity. However, everyone is expected to respect our faith commitments and to listen respectfully as these commitments are presented as part of Western’s curriculum and other programs.
